Douglas Thron is a sought-after drone and ground cinematographer whose work has appeared worldwide on news outlets and National Geographic. His drone footage of a U.S. Mail truck trying to deliver mail in a Santa Rosa neighborhood leveled by the Tubbs Fire was viewed more than 3 million times.

When the Camp Fire hit, Douglas accompanied principal subject Shannon Jay to Paradise to cover the Camp Fire, and ended up assisting in rescues as well as filming.  Douglas went on to adapt Shannon’s thermal imaging technology to a specially design drone, to locate “signs of life” from the air. He used that technology notably in Australia to locate and rescue koalas from the wildfires.
